Signal Processing

Insight provides a range of consulting and training services in Signal Processing.

A good example of Signal Processing from our current work at Insight concerns functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI). In this experiment medical images are taken while the participant is performing a cognitive task (such as the motor task of tapping their fingers together) and also while the participant is not performing the task. The difference between these images indicates the area of the brain that was used to perform the task. To produce the highest quality medical images signal processing is used to decompose the imaging signal into the response to the cognitive task and into the various sources of noise (including imaging artefacts, head movement, breathing, cardiac, and random noise).
