Fluid Mechanics
Insight provides a range of consulting and training services in Fluid Mechanics.
A good example of Fluid Mechanics from our current work at Insight concerns the movement of fluids such as blood and contrast agents during the collection of medical images. One physiological measure that can be recorded within a medical image is that of permeability. In this experiment images are acquired following the injection of a contrast agent such as gadolinium. Permeability measures the rate at which blood (and the contrast agent) “leaks” from the blood vessels into the adjacent tissue. Weakened tissue (such as in a tumour) will be more permeable than healthy tissue.
